Getting a Library Card
Downers Grove Public Library Cards are available free to residents of incorporated Downers Grove. The library provides several types of library cards for children. In addition to the No Restrictions and the Juvenile Materials Only cards, the library offers No Video/DVD Recordings from the Adult Collection and No Video/DVD and Audio Recordings from the Adult Collection cards. A parent or guardian must be present to sign for children under the age of 18. For more information on obtaining a library card, as well as an online application, click here.
Computer and Internet Use at the Library
The library has computers throughout the library that offer access to the Internet, the librarys catalog and subscription databases, and Microsoft Office products. All computers are available to anyone on a walk-up basis as long as the computer is not reserved. For more information on computer and Internet use at the library, click here.
The librarys Internet usage policy gives Internet access to everyone age 14 or older. Parents or legal guardians of children age 13 years and younger must come to the library to complete and sign the Internet registration form before their children are allowed to use the Internet for the first time. The library also provides parents with the option to block library Internet access for their minor children aged 1417. To block Internet access for a child aged 1417, parents must complete and sign an authorization form, which is available online or at the Circulation Desk.
