Memories of Life in Downers
Grove
Downtown Downers Grove
The Carnegie Library
In 1936 the Downers Grove Library looked very imposing,
almost like a Greek temple, or public building. The only
entrance was by a very long 45-degree angle cement stairs
off Curtiss Street. In my eyes, at 10 young years, it
was an extremely imposing structure. I wish it still
stood there, in all its splendor.
