Who are the Friends?

The Downers Grove Friends of the Library are members of the community whose active support has given the library everything from books on CDs to funds for the Junior Room’s summer reading clubs.

Besides their special gifts, the Friends sponsor ongoing activity groups that are open to all and enrich the entire community.
• The Downers Grove Writers Workshop meets at the library the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Meeting Room.
• The Friends’ popular Travel Slide Series meets the third Friday of the month, (September through June) at 7:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Check the Programs page for the latest offerings.

The Friends also sponsor a yearly Storybook Character Parade for youngsters in September.

A non-profit, volunteer organization, FOL is supported primarily by dues and contributions from its membership. Approximately 250 families are members of Friends of the Library. To join the Friends of the Library, contact Alice Packard at (630) 852-9363 or pick up a FOL brochure at the library.

The FOL Board meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room.
