CD Listening Station
A listening station for CDs is located in the second floor Literature Department. No appointment is needed. If you wish to listen to a CD from the library collection, you must check it out first.

Computers
Please read our Internet policy.

First Floor
The Junior Room Computer Room has several computers with access to the Internet, the library’s catalog and subscription databases, and Microsoft Office products. The Junior Room Computer Room computers may be used by patrons, eighth grade and under. The computers may be used on a walk-up basis, or they may be reserved one week in advance by Downers Grove Public Library cardholders by calling the Junior Room Service Desk at (630) 960–1200.

Parents or legal guardians of children age 13 years and younger must come to the library to complete and sign the Internet registration form before their children are allowed to use the Internet for the first time.

A valid library card or a guest computer use card is required to access the Junior Room Computer Room computers and to print from the catalog (WebPac) and Express computers in the library. The first 5 pages of black and white printing per day are free; additional pages are 10 cents each. Color printing is 25 cents per page. A self-service APM (automatic payment machine) is available in the Junior Room for patrons to add money to their accounts to pay for printing.

An Express computer is available in the Junior Room for adult use on a walk-up basis and may be used for ten minutes.

The Junior Room also has several computers loaded with educational games for various age groups. A library card is not required to use these computers.

Second Floor
The Computer Room, Resources, and Express computers on the second floor offer access to the Internet, the library’s catalog and subscription databases, and Microsoft Office products. All computers are available to anyone on a walk-up basis as long as the computer is not reserved.

Two computers in the Computer Room may be reserved one week in advance by Downers Grove Public Library cardholders. Reservations can be made online or by calling the Computer Room and Magazine Desk at (630) 960–1200.

Copiers
Copy machines are available on the first floor in the south lobby and in the Junior Room, and on the second floor in the Literature Department and near the Computer Room and Magazine Desk. Copies are 10 cents per page. In addition, there is a color copier in the Reference Department. Color copies are 25 cents per page.

Fax Machine
The library provides a commercial fax machine service for the convenience of our patrons. It is located in the lobby near the Circulation Desk. Instructions for use are posted on the machine. The cost to fax a document within the United States is $1.50 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. Because the library does not own the equipment, patrons are responsible for sending and receiving faxes.

Microform Reader/Printers
Three reader/printers are located in the second floor Computer Room. Two machines read both film and fiche; one machine is only for film. No appointment is needed to use the readers, and copies are 5 cents a page. The library has the following newspapers on microfilm: the Downers Grove Reporter (from 1895), the Sun – Downers Grove edition (from 2002), the Chicago Tribune (from 1976), and the New York Times (from 1940). There are also magazines on microfiche, including Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, and Rolling Stone.

Typewriter
A Lexmark IBM electric typewriter, useful for filling out forms or addressing envelopes, is available in the second floor Computer Room. No appointment is needed, and instructions are posted on the wall near the typewriter.
