Picture books, songs, puppetry, and story-related activities are featured in this drop-in storytime. The program is geared towards toddlers and preschoolers. Adult participation is an important part of this program.

Preschool Drop–In Halloween Storytimes
Please come to one of the following storytimes:

Enjoy stories, songs, and fingerplays that celebrate the excitement and spooky fun of Halloween (not too scary, we promise!) at one of these drop-in storytimes. Adult participation is an important part of this program. No costumes, please! Registration is not required. Program will be held in the library’s main meeting room.

Registered Infant Lapsit Storytime

Parents with babies who are not yet walking (up to approximately 12 months old) are invited to register for this first storytime experience! Songs, rhymes, stories, and movement activities are selected to promote verbal acquisition and sensory development. Group limit: 15 adult/baby pairs. Only one child per adult is allowed.
Registered Early Walker Storytime
Mondays, Sept. 15 – Oct. 13, 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.+*
Register beginning Tues., Sept. 9
Parents with walking babies up to 24 months old are invited to register for this storytime. Songs, rhymes, stories, and movement activities are selected to promote verbal acquisition and sensory development. Group limit: 15 adult/baby pairs. Only one child per adult is allowed.
Registered Preschool Storytime
Tuesdays, Sept. 16 – Oct. 14, 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.+
Register beginning Wed., Sept. 3
Stories, fingerplays, puppetry, and music are included in this registered storytime. Registered children attend without their parent. Preschoolers must be at least 31⁄2 or older to register. Group limit: 25.
Pajama Storytime
Thurs., Oct. 30, 7 – 7:30 p.m.+*

Come in your pajamas and bring a blanket or stuffed animal as we share stories, songs, puppets, and fingerplays on the last Thursday evening of each month. Children of all ages are welcome, but preschoolers must be supervised by an adult. Group limit: 75.

Miss Mouse Mysteries
Preschoolers – Grade 2
Sept. 2 – Oct. 31
Each week in September and October, look for the three clues posted in the picture book section of the Junior Room. After viewing each clue, try to figure out the answer to the Miss Mouse Mystery question. Tell a librarian at the Junior Room desk the correct answer and you will receive a sticker. Preschoolers through 2nd graders are eligible for sticker prizes.
For School-Age Children
Registered School Age Storytime
Tuesdays, Sept. 16 – Oct. 14, 4:00 – 4:30 p.m.+
Register beginning Wed., Sept. 3
Graduates of our preschool storytimes and others in kindergarten through 2nd grade will enjoy this storytime tailored just for them. Stories, fingerplays, puppetry, and music are included in this registered storytime. Registered children attend without their parent. A snack of juice and cookies or crackers will be served. Group limit: 20.
Young Writers’ Group
Thurs., Oct. 16, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.+
Register beginning Thurs. Sept. 18
If you dream of being an author, join our Young Writers’ Group! Throw out the rules and write from your soul—anything goes! The writers’ group plans to meet once a month during the school year in the evening to share original writing. Each meeting you’ll receive a theme and writing prompts or be free to select your own. Share your stories, get inspired, and learn to critique your work and the work of others. This program is open to writers in grades 4 – 6. Group limit: 15.
Franny K. Stein’s Mad Science Party

Register beginning Thurs., Oct. 2
Author Jim Benton created the mad scientist Franny K. Stein who makes a monster out of lunchmeat and builds a two-headed robot. Franny encourages everyone to find their inner mad scientist and we will do just that with experiments, crafts, and plenty of mad science. This program is open to children in grades 1 – 4. Group limit: 24.
