Rick Riordan Program Information
The Rick Riordan program sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop at 7 p.m. on May 12 is full. You can still have books signed that night after the program.

Bookflix Builds Reading Skills
BookFlix is a new online literacy resource for readers ages preschool through third grade that pairs classic video storybooks with related nonfiction eBooks to build a love of reading and learning. BookFlix reinforces early reading skills and introduces children to a world of knowledge and exploration and includes activities for children, a “Meet the Author” section, a place to explore the Web for more information on the topic, and links to other books that the children may enjoy.

You can use Bookflix in the library, or use Bookflix at home (for DG cardholders only).

Listen to Books Through Recorded Books/Net Library
You can download titles to your own MP3 player from home through Recorded Books/NetLibrary. To download titles, you must have a Downers Grove library card. The titles cannot be downloaded to library computers. At this time Apple iPods and Microsoft Zune players are not compatible with this service.

Enhance Your Glass Experience
If you are planning to see the exhibit “The Glass Experience,” running through Sept. 1 at the Museum of Science and Industry, remember to also visit the library’s “Ruby Macchia” located at the second floor entrance. The bowl was created by Dale Chihuly, one of the artists featured in the MSI’s show.

“Ruby Macchia” is part of the library’s art collection, funded by individuals, businesses, and community organizations who contributed to the Garden Walk gift brick program, generous private donations, and an Illinois Library Construction Grant.
