Author Kevin Guilfoile Visits on Sept. 17 The library welcomes author Kevin Guilfoile at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17. Guilfoile is the author of Cast of Shadows, a thriller set in Chicago that raises questions about cutting-edge medicine and technologies. This program is generously funded by the Grove Foundation, which identifys, supports, and promotes recreational, educational, and community experiences through innovative and collaborative efforts. Kids Can March in FOL’s Storybook Parade Children ages 4 to 12 dress as their favorite storybook character during the ninth annual Downers Grove Friends of the Library (FOL) Storybook Character Parade on Saturday, Sept. 13. The parade begins at 11 a.m., and kids march down Main Street accompanied by the Downers Grove North High School marching band before returning to the library for refreshments and prizes. Visit the Junior Room to register by Sept. 5. A Record for July! Summer might be slow for some, but not for us. In July, we set a new circulation record when patrons checked out more than 98,000 items. Our previous record was 94,000. Help Make the Garden Walk Bloom Purchase and personalize a brick as part of the expansion of the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation’s Garden Walk. Commemorate a special occasion, honor a loved one, or just leave your mark the library. Donations will be used by the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation to purchase artwork and other enhancements for the library.
