If you have little or no experience
using a personal computer, this is the class for you. After completing this
class, learners will be prepared to take the next class, Introduction to Personal Computers and the Internet. Advanced registration with a Downers
Grove Library card required.
We'll meet at the library to discuss The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. Join genetics professor Don Tillman as he systematically attempts to find love using the scientific methods that have always made sense in the lab, but don't exactly translate to the socially acceptable way to find a mate for life. As Don navigates the social challenges of everyday life living with Asperger's, he learns that you can't find love no matter how scientifically you look for it. When love finds Don, it is a whirlwind that he did not see coming.
Learn photography basics with Tom Callahan, creator of Critical Visuals Club. Students will take photographs in front of the library's green screen, and then use Photoshop to insert the backgrounds of their choosing. Participants must attend both June 14 and June 21 classes.
This storytime is designed for toddlers and
preschoolers, although children of all ages may attend, and features simple
picture books, songs and participation activities. Parent participation is an
essential element of this storytime, and attending children must be supervised
by an adult. Registration is not required. Storytimes attended by eight or
fewer people may be canceled by the storyteller.
Looking for somewhere local to volunteer your time? Organizations (Family Shelter Service, Giving Dupage, Indian Boundary YMCA, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago Patterson and McDaniel Family Center, FISH, Sharing Connections) tell you what they're looking for in volunteers this summer. Co-sponsored by the Woodridge Public Library.
