Downloadable Books

emedialibraryDownload eAudiobooks and eBooks at home to your computer and transfer them to a supported portable device with the eMediaLibrary 24/7 digital library. To download titles, a Downers Grove library card number is needed. Titles cannot be downloaded to library computers.

Please remember that at the end of the loan period, titles will expire and be automatically "returned" to the library. You have the option of returning eBooks early through Adobe Digital Editions or Kindle library.

overdriveOverDrive Advantage, a service of eMediaLibrary, gives library cardholders exclusive access to additional eAudiobook and eBook titles. This includes additional copies of popular titles and new titles not available through the consortium.

Patrons need to log into the eMediaLibrary website to view these extra titles. OverDrive Advantage titles are noted with a yellow checkmark within an orange circle. Don’t forget that you have continued access to the rest of the titles on eMediaLibrary’s website. These titles are not listed in the SWAN catalog.

Project Gutenberg Books

Downers Grove patrons now have easy access to over 15,000 Project Gutenberg eBook titles. On the eMediaLibrary homepage under Browse by Collection, you will now see a link for Public Domain eBooks. Titles never expire, don’t count against your library checkout limit, and best of all unlimited simultaneous downloads are permitted! This collection of eBooks uses the Adobe Digital Editions software.
