Local Sources

Yearbooks and Alumni Directories
The library has yearbooks from Downers Grove North from 1920 to the present and from 1979 to the present from Downers Grove South. The library also has alumni directories for both schools, with alphabetical indexes to names, which can be used to determine the year a person graduated from North or South. They also provide some biographical information, such as marital status, children and occupation.

Phone Books—shelved in *Ref 977.324 DOW Local History
The library has historical telephone directories for most years 1909–1958 and 1975 to the present, which can be used to determine where a person lived at a particular time.

Local Newspapers on Microfilm
The Downers Grove Library has local newspapers on microfilm. None of the local news-papers are indexed. Ask at the Computer and Magazine Desk for assistance.

Chicago Tribune Databases
The library has access to the Chicago Tribune Historical Archive database, which provides obituaries and death notices from 1849–1987. For more up-to-date information, the library also subscribes to the Chicago Tribune database, which covers 1985 to the present.
