Tour the librarys permanent art collection
The Downers Grove Public Library serves the cultural interests of the community by providing materials, exhibits, and programs that encourage an appreciation of the arts. Construction of a new library building in 1999 offered a chance to expand this tradition through the establishment of a permanent art collection within the library.
The Library Board of Trustees has selected works in a variety of mediums and styles suited to spaces within the building. We hope the collection will stimulate, interest, and inspire library visitors.
Major funding for the artwork was made possible by individuals, businesses, and community organizations who contributed to the Garden Walk gift brick program, and by generous private donations. Additional funding was provided by an Illinois Library Construction Grant administered by the Secretary of State.
