Library Displays Policy
5.5.4 Displays in Library Departments
Displays within departments are used to promote the use
of library materials. Displays may feature library
materials that provide information on issues of local,
national
or global import, or feature library materials of cultural,
recreational or educational interest. Library departments
may also create displays that provide an opportunity
for library users to view new materials, promote the
use of interesting or underutilized materials and services,
or provide easy access to materials that are in high
demand. The Junior room may display writings, art work,
or crafts prepared by children eighth grade and younger,
submitted by a classroom teacher of a school located
in Downers Grove or the leader of an organized non-profit
children's group that includes children who are
residents of Downers Grove.
5.5.5 Displays in Display Cases
The purpose of the display cases is to promote library
materials, services, and programs. Displays may focus
on a particular service or program, or displays may be
topical and feature relevant library materials. The display
cases are also used to promote the Friends of the Library;
and to provide information about governmental agencies
and public schools that serve the residents of Downers
Grove.
The small display cases at the entrance to the Children's
Department may be used to showcase collections of items
of interest to, and appropriate for viewing by, children
up to the sixth grade.
