Artist Robin Faulkner has created four historical paintings
of buildings that have housed the Downers Grove Public
Library. The works employ gouache, pencil, and watercolors.
Three were commissioned by the Downers Grove Friends of
the Library and completed in the 1980's. Owner Services,
Inc. donated the fourth for the dedication of the new building
in 1999.
Faulkner has a B.F.A. in painting from the University
of Illinois and teaches at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire.
She has worked as an exhibit preparer and sculptor/illustrator
for major Chicago museums including the Field Museum, Museum
of Contemporary Art, Terra Museum of American Art, Chicago
Children's Museum, and the Shedd Aquarium. Her favorite
medium is egg tempera, and her philosophy of painting is, "Trust
your eyes. Trust your hand to follow your eyes. Trust your
intuition. Breathe." |
