Acquired: 1999
Location: Second Floor, Nonfiction Sorting Shelves

A world-renowned artist, Chicago native Robert Natkin studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He has had major exhibitions throughout the country and abroad. His works are represented in many private and public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. His works of abstract expressionism are always named after he paints them. Natkin uses a unique layering technique and an interweaving blend of colors to give a foggy shrouded effect. He says, "Art should alter our perceptions of the present—the world as we see it—and also color both our past recollections and anticipation of future moments."
