Pamela J. Hart

F.G.'s Bridge
(oil on linen)
Acquired: 2001
Location: Circulation Area

Local gems such as the Morton Arboretum, Cantigny, and the Chicago Botanical Gardens influence much of Pamela Hart's work. The interplay of light and shadows on the paths and walkways of these settings has inspired her to work with layers of paint and focus on the shadows created by nature. As a result, her creations carry an impressionistic tone.

Her pathways' series of works is based on Chicago's regional areas, and her work prompts people to remark, "that they could walk right into the paintings." Hart has trained in painting and art education at several colleges including the Art Institute of Kansas City. She is a graduate of Ball State University. Hart's father, F.G. LeBlanc, built the bridge in the library's painting some twenty years ago. It still stands on his property in Marion, Indiana.
